The walk runs for about 7 miles on generally good, waymarked footpaths. The walk starts in Whitby on the River Esk and heads to Whitby Abbey.

One of our favourite things to do whilst staying in Whitby is walk and explore. We love to try different routes and take in the vast coastal scenery.

This attractive route of around 7 miles takes in the spelndour and drama of the beautiful Yorkshire Coastline and Countryside. The takes around 3-4 hours with plenty of photo opportunities and even a cafe en route after Saltwick Bay. Starting at Whitby Abbey, pick up the signs for the Clevelnad Way National Trail and then follow south towards Robin Hood's Bay.

The Walk. The short stretch of coastline from Robin Hood's Bay to Whitby has some wonderful views and typical coastal walking. The up and downs are not too bad (except Maw Wyke Hole) and the path generally in good condition. However it is the memorable ruins of Whitby Abbey that become increasingly oppressive as you approach the town.
